The US authorities have charged a Russian man, Vladislav Osipov, with trying to hide the yacht of businessman Viktor Vekselberg from sanctions and have issued a warrant for his arrest, the US Department of Justice has said.

The investigation alleged that Osipov, together with Richard Masters, a Briton, tried to conceal the ownership of the yacht Tango to Vekselberg, who is subject to US sanctions, and to ensure its exploitation through companies and the US financial system.

Both defendants are charged with conspiracy to defraud US authorities, sanctions violations and money laundering.

Spanish police on Thursday arrested Masters, who faces extradition to the US. An arrest warrant has been issued against Osipov, who also holds Swiss citizenship. The case file states that he has worked in senior positions in various Vekselberg companies.
The yacht Tango, estimated to be worth $90 million, was detained in Spain in April at the US request.
